Former coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh said Tuesday that he has implored his lawyers to withdraw a lawsuit against his erstwhile employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The former national coach said he made his decision after being placated to do so by “some well-meaning Nigerians”.
“I have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the lawsuit against the NFF,” Oliseh said via his official Youtube account, the same medium through which he announced his resignation as coach of the national team two weeks ago.
Oliseh cited breach of contract including non-payment of salaries by his employers before his resignation and that he it is useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving, misleading Nigerians
Below is the video and text of the video
“Hello My Name is Sunday Oliseh
“I have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the lawsuit against the NFF.
“After speaking with well-meaning Nigerians, who I respect a lot, I also believe it is useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving Nigerians and misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from the reality. And the reality is that I decided to resign on 25th of Feb because certain vested interests in the NFF put their own interests first before interest of our country but I also believe Nigerians deserve to know the truth. I feel that it is important to know that my position as regards Nigeria coming first was a hindrance to personal interest of certain vested interests in the NFF. And for that reason anybody who is going to come in and be tmy position as Chief coach and who put Nigeria first, will always have problems that is for sure
“Now this also explains why the important or very unnecessary expenditures that are important for the progression of our country like benefits of players and wages and coaches are always placed secondary, while as other expenditures that has little bearing to the progression of our country will always be catered for first. For example team building trip that are not important for our national team to progress.
“I also feel in order not to let Nigerians get the true picture. They are hell bent in tarnishing my credibility and that is why they came up with the story that they paid me and that is why i left i have attached undernith here since I am no longer going on with the law site the statement the statement of my account of the Zenith bank the bank with the NFF use in dealing with me the few occasion I was paid. You can see that there has been no payment since February up till the time i resigned on 25th and even after that on the 29th you can ses that
“I also feel that I should let you know that I ask the technical committee for information and material as regards to Egypt. I asked them why back as in July 2015 as at the time I resigned in Feb 25th 2061 there was no information for us even though i had reminded them on several occasion by email so there is proof of it so they there not deny it but what i feel they find more important to them was trying to influence who plays for Nigeria, who get invited and obviously i refused because they are not coaches. I also feel that it is unfair notwithstanding to treat players they are treated so for that reason pls I have attached here also proof of the invoice of food they say that I did not buy in south Africa and that show that… where in the world dose a national team coach of the first team buy food for the team and we are the richest African Nation That I leave you to judge yourself.
“Since I did not want to be part of this, of putting Nigeria second and personal interest first there was no way this could continue and I felt it was time to it be that was why i resigned and nothing else.
“On the 16 of Feb I wrote a demand letter to the NFF and i gave an ultimatum to the 25th to settle issues dating way back as to July 2015 and almost by midnight when that ultimatum was not meet i resigned no phone call was made no emails to try to address the issues and it was very clear and when i resigned i resigned by email and by post mail and the president and vice president called me and we spoek about this till 2am trying to convince me not to resign but the decision had been taken and before even that i had contacted the minister with due respect to Nigerian and the minister
“I called him before I even resigned to alert and tell him what I have decided as the father of the Nigerian sport so I don’t think you rally need too much conviction because you have always know that our federation what they are like.”
