A grandmother smuggled drugs into a prison using Kinder Surprise eggs stashed in her vagina, it was reported.

The 73-year-old brought the drugs into the jail in Alicante for her inmate son, according to local reports in Spain.

The elderly woman, who has not been named, was given a 21-month suspended prison sentence following a hearing on Wednesday.

The court heard the pensioner concealed €20, small packages of cocaine and heroin, and tranquilizers, inside the plastic casing of a Kinder egg in July 2013.

It is said she then smuggled the stash into Fontcalent prison by wrapping the Kinder egg in a condom and inserting it into her vagina.

When she realised she was going to be body searched, she removed the package, worth around €82, before handing it to prison guards to be arrested, reports The Local website.
