Ondo Election : “We Will Obey Judgement But Election Still Hold November 24” – INEC

The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral commission, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, has confirmed that the commission will obey the judgement of the Court of Appeal which ordered INEC to recognize Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as the rightful candidate of Peoples Democratic Party for the Governorship election in Ondo State but the court order should be served on it before Friday. He further stressed that there will be no change as regards the electoral time’s table that the election will go on as scheduled.

“We will obey the judgment because this is an order coming from a superior court. We will abide by that decision. However, we will expect that the judgment be served on us before Friday to enable us comply. When we are served, we will comply immediately.

“But we are not going to shift the date of the election. We have passed that stage. The election is going to hold on Saturday, November 24 as scheduled.” He added.
