Saturday Digest : On The Dog, President Buhari And The Rest Of Us

Much ado has been given to the story behind why a man should name a dog after His Excellency the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Buhari. While most people are on the opposing end, some are in total support of the naming convention that confer a great name like Buhari on “a dog”

For some of us who prefer to be on the sidelines watching as event unfolds, the drama is still on as the arrest, released and re-arrest of the Chairman of the naming convention pass on from one Cell to another.

Two things promoted me to write this article, one, as one of the holders of the greatest title in the land call Nigeria  “the Office of the citizen”  I guess the time is right to put the records straight, in order to correct this mess to avert impending dangers and historical blunders. Secondly, as a writer I have received several messages asking about my position on this matter.

Recently, some Nigerians confer the titled of “The Traveller” on our dear President for being the most “travelled President” in the history of our country just within a few months in office. And now unfolding events has prompted another titled “The Dictator” While this seems good on the “eyes” of most people, and sad on the “eyes” of others, the truth must be told, is our President, a dictator?

The entire story behind the naming convention of the dog is very funny and the response of the Law enforcement officers to the convention is very sad.
I was opportune to discuss with a retired senior Police officer on this issue two weeks ago.

While he kept claiming that the police were right in what they did which I agreed at first to find a common ground , he was worried about the motives of the police officer involved and the chairman of the dog convention naming committee which should equally be of great concern to us the holder of this great titled “The Citizen”

I believe Mr President should be able to overlook most issues, if he really want the progress of Nigeria and the Police officers in charge of the case and such other cases like this, should be call to order, their actions and in actions is an insult to the office of the President.

I believe the Boko Haram people who have deprived and robbed some young girls the love and comfort of their family are more important than who is wrong or right in this naming convention of a dog.

I believe the Presidency is well aware that time is ticking and Nigerians are waiting for the much talk about change.

I believe that as Nigerians we should learn to respect each other and always pray for the success of the country, No matter who sit as the President.
