President Buhari Will Not Congratulate Dickson On His Re-election – Lai Mohammed

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed says President Muhammadu Buhari will not send any congratulatory message to Seriake Dickson over his re-election as governor of the state.

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce from Bayelsa has criticised the president for not congratulating Dickson but addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, Lai Mohammed said;

“This president is not in the business of interfering and intervening in elections,” he said.

“What if he sent a congratulatory message and they go to court and the election is overturned, will he call back the congratulatory message?

“This president believes that the presidency should be insulated from the conduct of elections and their outcomes.”

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan was known for congratulating winners of election irrespective of political party.

That’s Mr. President personal opinion, so there’s nothing bad in avoiding election stories. That’s part of change we want in government.
