A pervert obsessed with horses travelled thousands of miles to fulfil his vile sexual fantasy – before being nabbed by undercover police.
Michael Crawford, 68, was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation for one count of conspiracy to commit bestiality .
He pleaded guilty after police were alerted to his intentions when he posted a seedy online advert seeking a horse owner.
When Crawford, from Pennsylvania, received a promising reply, he bought a round-trip ticket to Phoenix, which is 2,000 miles away.
But instead, Crawford had fallen foul of local law officers who had spotted the ad and set up a sting.
Investigators at the Maricopa County Sheriff‘s Office animal crimes unit said they launched an probe last October which eventually led to the court appearance.
Detectives engaged Crawford in conversations online and over the phone, all the time trying to establish just how serious his problem is.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said detectives learned Crawford has been sexually aroused by horses for years and has actually travelled extensively to find horse owners in various cities willing to allow him access to their animals.
The Sheriff said Crawford told an undercover deputy that he purchased a non-refundable plane ticket to Phoenix and would be bringing five shirts on which he wanted the horse to urinate.
