Man Charged With Hacking Into Celebrities Emails, Stealing Movie Scripts, Sex Tapes

U.S. Homeland Security agents arrested a man from the Bahamas on charges of hacking into the email accounts of numerous individuals in the entertainment, sports, and media industries, court papers filed in federal court in Manhattan say.

Alonzo Knowles, 23, was arrested in Manhattan Monday after meeting with an undercover law enforcement agent, officials said.

Knowles is accused of hacking into the email accounts of the celebrities and then stealing copyrighted movie and television scripts, personal identifying information and private sexually explicit photographs and videos, the court papers say. The court papers did not identify the victims.

At the time of his arrest, Knowles was allegedly attempting to sell the stolen material to the undercover agent, the court papers say.

Knowles is charged with copyright infringement and identity theft and will appear in federal court in Manhattan later Tuesday.

Additional details of the charges and investigation are expected to be released by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan at a later time. NBC, New York reports.
